Mission Statement
The Friends of the Portola Valley Library (FOPVL) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, created to promote and augment the development and use of resources and services of the Portola Valley Library for the benefit of local residents.
FOPVL brings together people who view their local library as a valuable source of community, interaction, and learning.
We are a tax-deductible, non-profit organization whose mission is to help preserve, strengthen, and create an awareness and appreciation of our library services. Since its inception in May of 1968, the Friends of the Portola Valley has raised money through book sales and generous donations. These funds have allowed the Friends to sponsor library programs and cultural events for children and adults and assist in the purchase of furniture, fixtures, and equipment. The generous support of the community was crucial in organizing and financing the temporary relocation of the Portola Valley Library during construction of the new Town Center, allowing the library to remain open and functioning throughout the duration of the project.
The Friends of the Portola Valley Library most recently ran a campaign and raised funds for fixtures, furnishings and equipment, new programs and more varied collections.
