Carmen Letona-Adams, our library manager!
Carmen Letona-Adams has accepted the position of Manager for both the Portola Valley and Woodside libraries. She replaces Garrett Kuramoto, who has moved to the Sunnyvale City Library.
Carmen has been with the San Mateo County Library system for seven and a half years. She began as the Children’s Librarian in the San Carlos Library, implementing Spanish story times and craft programs. She also served as Senior Librarian for two years in Half Moon Bay during COVID. She found it rewarding that the library could bring technology and reliable Internet connectivity during a difficult time. Most recently she has led the North Fair Oaks library, where she has focused on literacy support and access to technology. She is currently managing three libraries: Portola Valley, Woodside, and North Fair Oaks.
Carmen said, “Though I live in Redwood City and have been a resident there most of my life (Woodside High School alumna!) I have family in Portola Valley and spend a lot of time here hiking, shopping, and eating!”
We are thrilled to have Carmen lead our terrific staff of the Portola Valley Library. Do stop in and welcome her!
extended library hours!
The Portola Valley Library is now open seven days a week! The hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 AM to 8 PM, and Friday through Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM. This is a tremendous increase in library availability. We hope you will enjoy visiting the library during these additional hours.
after-school Power-Up afternoons
This school year, our Library continues to offer an after-school program from 3 PM to 5 PM Monday through Friday. Each day offers a different activity, including guest speakers, group activities, and hands-on, self-directed explorations. Click here for the current Calendar of PV Library events.
a library card for every child
One of SMCL’s goals is to provide a library card for every child in the county. If your school-age child does not yet have one, we encourage you to register online for theirs today.
